About CovCloud

We built the rating platform we wished existed when we were delivering insurance technology.

The Problem We Saw

Insurance teams launching new products face a brutal choice: spend 12-18 months building rating infrastructure from scratch, or lock into an expensive enterprise platform built for the admitted market.

The enterprise platforms don't understand the flexibility E&S underwriters need. They force you into workflows designed for bureau rates and standard forms. Building from scratch gives you control, but burns months on foundational engineering before you write a single line of business logic.

We've spent careers building insurance technology platforms. We've seen what works, what breaks, and what underwriters actually need. CovCloud is the third option: a production-ready foundation your team forks, extends, and deploys. Start on your product logic in weeks, not quarters.

How We Think

Code Over Configuration

Rating logic belongs in version-controlled code, not buried in admin screens. Python algorithms are readable, testable, and reviewable. AI coding copilots can work with code — they can’t work with proprietary config UIs.

Insurance-Native Design

We don’t abstract away insurance concepts. Our domain model speaks in terms of entities, coverages, segments, and charges. If you understand insurance, you understand the platform.

Foundation, Not a Box

CovCloud is infrastructure you extend, not a SaaS you’re locked into. Fork the code, own your implementation, and evolve at your own pace. We provide the foundation and continuous updates — you build on top.

The Team

Ken Brower

Founder & CEO

A seasoned software engineer with a track record of helping build two leading insurance technology platforms. Ken has delivered multiple successful solutions across underwriting, policy administration, and rating.

CovCloud is the distillation of that experience: the patterns that work, the architecture that scales, and the deep domain knowledge that only comes from years in the insurance technology trenches.

Let's build something together
